Hi everyone

I have adventured in to the world of sidewaysness and I'm now aiming to do my first show next month, however I'm totally lost on the toppers one bowler situation! When do you where which? I watched a class on Saturday and half the class was in toppers and the rest in bowlers. I've been told only toppers are worn at royal shows and I've also been told you only where a topper after 12. I'll be doing the ladies side saddle (the one for RH, hacks & cobs) and it will be at a agricultural show. As I don't want to stick out like a sore thumb for getting it wrong any hints and tips would be very helpful!!

Cheers :)

You'd be correct, top hats are worn at royal shows and after 12 pm, otherwise go with a bowler....or break the mould and wear a helmet!
Attire for a bowler is different to that of a top hat, so if wearing a bowler, you'd wear a shirt and tie, if wearing a top hat, a shirt with a stock, and I *think* if you're in a top hat your horse should be in a double bridle!
Someone may be along who knows more, if you want anymore info PM me, I can dig out my SSA handbook!
