You all said "more pictures please," so I took spud on his third side saddle hack yesterday and got more photos :) We also had our first few trots which he was a superstar at, and I was awful as expected but all a learning curve!

Got that one and video stills which seemed a bit pointless to put up so video link below:

Sorry it is a bit boring, I am the one in long black boots astride and short boots aside. It is my friend riding in the fluffy boots and her first time aside - I told spud if he chucked her off Father Christmas wouldn't come!!

Also, I am now looking for a habit, but I really can't afford a new one. My mum is very good at sewing so I have inquired with only stockist I can find of habit patterns to see if the still have them in stock. But thought I may as well ask to see if anyone knows of any size 8 ish habits available? I have a 26/28" waist, 26" leg length, 30" chest so I mostly wear children's show jackets and jodpurs, although have problem with them being short in the arms!
Just looking for any ideas really that won't cost the earth!

Thank you in advance, constructive criticism welcome, just bear in mind pony and I are both complete novices!

Looks like you have stunning scenery to ride around! You'll look very authentic when you have a habit too! :)

Apparently it is an Elan, although I looked them up and it didn't look like one. It is not English leather which is a shame but hey ho it fits, and I got told it is most likely the best I will find to fit awkward Spud (I have been looking since july! ) It is very comfy as well. If we really do take to this whole side saddle thing I may look forward to a made to measure english one for next year (also need to get rich!! :p ) I had wanted to hire one but fitting short wide pony and not having many people who hire them near us made it fairly impossible so it is a mediocre starter saddle for now!

We have an amazing few hundred year old park to ride around, can't wait for the habit and photoshoots ;)

And thank you for the ebay suggestion :) Again, I have been looking/watching for months but the only habits that seem to come up are either childrens or 34" or bigger :(
I will have a look at horsegossip though :D

The first link is to a pattern with a cut away jacket.

The next linnk is to an apron pattern.

I've made these patterns up and before doing any cutting, measure an 'English' made hacking jacket and adjust the measurements eg length, collar depth to match. Look at the Gallery to see how the jackets look when made up.
A dress maker will be able to make them for you if you don't fancy having a go yourself.

I didn't actually put the pockets in - I just stitched the pocket flaps on as mock pockets. Heather only ever stuffed her gloves anyway and caused them to bulge.

These are the sewing patterns I have been trying to get hold of but can only find one place that sells them in UK and they are not replying to emails. Did you order yours from your America?
Thank you for the links :)
