Amy had her drain removed this morning - yay, no more stupid buster collar :) :) - but she still has a couple of stitches which come out next Friday. The vet said that I was OK to walk her but "don't overdo it" so she had a walk on the lead (much to her displeasure) and I was going to keep her on the lead until the stitches are out next Friday.

Is this OTT or would you do the same?

Hi Picklenash, have just spoken to you on ScrannyAnn's post. I have many (too many) years experience of stitched up whippet, lurchers and greyhounds. Please don't let Amy run free until she is well healed whatever she tells you!

Hi Chiffy - your guess on S_A's post was right, that was/is me :) :) I have been so lucky I must admit, 25 years of sighthound ownership & relatively few injuries (touch wood!!!) so this idea of stitches is new to me :D I shall keep Amy on the lead for the week as you suggest, I would much rather be safe than risk it :)

I am loving the orangutan comparison, I know just what you mean :) Amy has now turned into a bubble wrap dog, I just looked at the wound to make sure she was leaving the stitches alone and there is still quite a lot of air under the skin, it feels really weird! I checked with the vets and they said nothing to worry about :)
