I know Mo is just a baby and being cut in the autum will make a huge difference, but what would you do with silly behaviour in this instance?
He leads well generally, does his feet, loads, been bridled, lunges, comes when called, generally a good boy. But he can be full of beans when we first start out. He comes to the fence to be haltered but if I come in 'his' field he likes to fake rush me, toss his head around and sometimes half-rear a bit. Generally I say a firm 'No!' and if he rears near to me I smack his shoulder once while I say 'No!'.
Also, he loves mouthing. He's never bit me but he does put his mouth on me, on his rope, on everything really, which I think is a bit rude but he's still quite young... I just don't want it to become a habit. When I lift his front right hoof he likes to nip my butt! Very undignified! Don't want to be too hard on him but it won't be cute if he's doing it as an 8 year old!
Thoughts?
