well ive just spent the last 20mins running around the couch being chased by my two and now i have two very excited boxers plus i forgot how strong they can be when they finally got me

pointless post i know xx

our JRT is easy to entertain, just have to sit on the sofa and say 'shake' to him and he will run around growling and shaking a toy for ages. Not much effort needed

I do play tug with toys with him but he his strong and likes to shake it which hurts my wrist.

Oh let's see, there's 'High Five Mum in the Face'

'Find the Pheasant - and make mum chase after me while I do so'

'CAT HUNT!'

And 'If you don't scratch that sweet spot on my back right now I will not leave you alone for the rest of the evening'

Boston likes catching snowballs, especially combined with his next favourite thing in the whole world - little children

I don't actually play much with mine, they much prefer to play with each other, and, like herd bound horses, just mooch about sadly if they are separated.

Boston and Poppy play chase too, usually round and round the swimming pool, (horse box, barn - in one door, out the other, even just around a tree) then one will stop, wait, and pounce on the other one, have a bit of a wrestling match and start all over again. They play hide and sneak too, one hides and then sneaks up and ambushes the other one! They are not gentle dogs when playing, I am frequently left on the floor after they have run into the back of my legs.

Rips favourite is tug of war, preferably with other dogs, but a human will do at a push, he'll grab anything and shove it in the others' faces until they have no choice but to play.

"Wheres the fox? Go on... wheres it?" If its high pitched enough she will spend the next 20 mins dashing from room to room, searching everywhere. Tires her out, I can sit on the sofa, yelling encouragment.

Bella loves to catch snowballs, her brother just lets them splat on his face

And they do the roundy-roudy-roundy chase game too

I hold Alfies tail, wag it for him and say 'it's alive' and he will chase it round and round snapping and growling. Dillon is official bird monitor so if I says 'birds' very quietly he dashes into the garden to round them up and I blow raspberries on the back of Pie's neck which makes her go mental grabbing toys and throwing them round.

I play with mine all the time, Boxer loves ball games so easy to get him excited.
GSP's fave is hiding his teddys and he has to find them, makes him go crazy. I just have 2 pick up something and throw it and hes off.

my RR is past the point of playing bless her, she prefers to sleep next to the fire and playfight with the boder terrier.
My border however is such a playful old man. He LOVES to play tug, when you get bored of playing with him he will run round the house with a big tug rope in his mouth looking for some1 else to play!
He likes to think he plays fetch but he doesnt ever give the ball / toy back to any1 other than his mammy :P, he just prances round with it for about half an hour looking chuffed with himself!

My fave 'lazy game' to play is.. 'go see'. Basically I make out like there is something/ some1 new in the house and he runs around like a loon trying to find it untill he is nackered.

When I was younger, maybe 10, I used to wrestle with Leah.

Probably not the best game for teaching her good behaviour, but it was good fun! I'd get down on my knees and basically tackle her, and then she'd leap on me and we'd playfight until one of us (usually Leah) got bored or distracted. Or until my mum yelled at us.

Leah doesn't playfight with me any more though - she must be too grown up and sensible.

When I tackle her, she just looks quite offended and walks off. She never once hurt me, even by accident, when we were wrestling... what a good girl.

With Poppy, I used to blow raspberries at her (not even near her, just looking at her) and she'd go MENTAL and start haring round the house like a mad thing and then dive into her bed and sit there wriggling with excitement until I did it again.

Daft dog! She's not quite as exciteable as she used to be, but we still get a couple of minutes of mentalness before she remembers she's an old lady now and is supposed to be dignified.
