I know this sounds silly but has anyone found that Spillers Hi Fibre cubes have sent there horse do lally?
Ive knocked mixes on the head and am feeding hifi, hi fibre cubes and just started Feedmark benevit (freeby) and my horse is living on his nerves. He is a quirky spooky type normally but its like hes seeing things!! Tonight he was stood at the stable door, not eating and staring into the distance at nothing, heart beating madly and just a total stress head.
Maybe its the benevit but Ive only added a tiny bit. He has had hi fibre cubes for a whil now but as Ive knocked the mix on the head Ive increased the cubes a bit. He cant tolerate sugar beet even unmollassed and goes loopy on Spillers Cool Mix.
Maybe its just that time of year :confused:

I haven't found this at all. We have a TB who is ridiculously sensitive to cereals and molasses, Spillers High Fibre is one of the makes he is fine on. I'd stop the Benevit (as it's the 'new' thing), for a few days and see if he improves. Sometimes there seems to be no rhyme nor reason behind what affects different horse. I really hope you get him sorted out soon, he sounds quite distressed poor chap.

Spillers high fibre cubes is the only thing that my underweight TB mare will eat! She won't eat mixes, rejects Alfa A, and isn't that keen on beet.....she seems fine on them, but she is currently at rehab on box rest with 25 mins walking per day, and she is a bit loopy up there - so now you've made me not sure if it's the box rest that's making her agitated, or the cubes!! OMG!!

Thanks for the replies.
Holly Hocks, Im sure its the box rest. Hi Fibre cubes are supposed to be just that, hi fibre but I thought I'd ask as you just never know :)
Appylass, he was much better when I left him, gave him a quick lunge to try and occupy his mind, get rid of some energy and he ate his tea and started eating his net. I will stop the benevit, just incase and see how he goes, Thanks

My money is in the benevit. But I googled it and can't figure out why. It also contains magnesium which is in most calmers (at a higher amount). Indy is generally stressy but I've had good results with the Allen&Page feeds, although only tiny amounts (to the point I think I eat more....).

Thanks, Ive googled it too and cant seem to find anything. He is one of a kind and I hate leaving him like this, hence a quick lunge to try and calm him down a bit. Hes had a magnesium based calmer before but it didnt do anything so I wouldnt think any in the benevit wouldnt have any calming effect at all. Ive only just started introducing it so hes had minimal. I will stop it anyway, just incase.

Definitely stop the Benevit. My mare is unrideable on it!

:eek::eek::eek:
He was calm again tonight so thought it must have been 'one of his moments':D
so its in his feeds for tomorrow but thats it now, its being binned!!
I wondered why hes been supercharged for the last few days, thought maybe the grass was just starting to come through, (which does effect him) as theyve not been ready to come in as early as they was.
Thanks for that :)
