Silly ginger ninja must have been playing silly monkeys in the field day before yesterday and managed to overreach and cut herself fairly deeply just on the back of front leg! Cue me phoning the vet, however they were fully booked and because I didn't feel it was an emergency (she wasn't lame and was very happy in herself) I said I could wait till tomorrow (yesterday). After work the vet arrived and although it is a deep cut it is not all the way through so only needs some antibiotics and pain killers to reduce the swelling for 5 days! Now.......I asked the vet........is she better to stay in her stable? the vets reply was ........no no she can go out for as long as she likes.....as long as there is no mud or dirt or sand...... now is probably a good time to explain that I live in the NORTH EAST OF SCOTLAND and it is WINTER!!!! Like this would be possible. long story short, pony is in her box for the next week to stop any infections and is allowed to go for a road hack at the weekends when it is light enough to see! I will now need to be up at 5:15 every morning to drive the half an hour past my work to see to said ninja including washing her cut twice a day before I drive the 20 minutes back to my work! Yawn.............horses?!

See what you mean about the vet, I am in the South East and everything outside here is covered in dirt and wet at the moment, wise choice on your part keeping the horse in.
