<font color="purple"> Ok so this is probably the silliest question I can even ask but I'm really stuck for an answer.

Bought a new martingale the other day and although it's lovely and fits perfect we need a stopper on it just to stop it slipping too far.

Went and bought a rubber stopper yesturday but for the life of me I could not work out how to get it on...me and a friend tried everything and then I got frustrated with it and chucked it across the tea room.

So, can anyone please answer this darn simple question of how do I get rubber stopper onto my martingale!?!

running it under hot water will make it expand and be more flexible. And becuase they are thick it shouldn't cause any problems with perishing

We put it in a cup of hot water for about 20 minutes, it really still didn't help get it onto my martingale...will give it another go though maybe!

I guess that's the way the world works ;^^

Does my head in, but will try again tomorrow with more hot water and something slipery to guide it on!

After softening the rubber, you'll need to get some bailer tie and loop a bit in each side of the rubber stopper. You &amp; your mate pull it apart (stretch it) while you slip the two rings &amp; one side of the neck strap through. vwala!

i had this problem! i soaked it in hot water for AGES! then i tied it to the bars of elsa's stable with baling twine and stretched it to an inch of its life. I then gave it to YO to put on because i couldnt work it out and just as she got it into place it snapped! i think i just stretched it a bit tooo much but if you soak it for a while then stretch it it should work. a hoof pick helps to get it into place too

Im so glad you asked that question - im so think i turned up at xc training the other day without the stopper on my new martingale and had to use some tape - classy or what!

I will enjoy the battle with my stopper later!

I had the problem and asked the same question a while ago. Good luck, there are a lot of kind helpful people on here!

Definately - Baler twine, a beautiful assistant, hot water to soak and brute force!!! Works eveytime. Me and my mate have got it down to a fine art now - 2 seconds and its done. We use the same method on biscuits for bits too!
