I really want some of the flexi stirrups but I cannot afford Sprengers. I've heard that some off eBay are unsafe but surely the Dublin / other reasonable makes are ok ?

Hi I have a pair of Thorowgood T6 stirrups that are similar and comfortable, think they were only about £30 on ebay 2nd hand.

The only caveat is that I advise you to regularly check under the rubber vertical "tubes" - I failed to do so and after approx 5 years of using them was mid-forward-going canter when there was a loud "snap" and the outer side of my left stirrup gave way. When I examined them it appeared that years of condensation/damp from riding in the wet etc had corroded the links hidden under the rubber. Did I buy another pair? Absolutely! Do I check them regularly? Not as much as I probably should but some checks are better than none ;-).
