My horse hasn't been ridden in 2 years due to injury and lack of time. He is a big gangly thing that has no topline and no back muscle to speak of - thus has very prominant whithers.

Question - Would it be possible to build it all back up to passable in the show ring in just shy of 3 months?

I just need a yes or no :D

Thanking You ever so kindly!

(Probably) yes provided you are willing and able to work him correctly for shorter periods more frequently - how does three times a day sound?

HOYS - no,
Nice local show to get him used to being out and about - why not - you may well not come first but after 2 years off it's probably not critical to win!

Mixed verdict! It's nothing special just my local show. I guess I will give it a bash as he needs to do some work anyway and if I can pull it off I pull it off, if not he gets to stay home for the day :D

My bonus round here is that there are lots of hills and he is fab in long lines so we have a start.

It was a random thought that went through my head as the horse is looking fab but thinking on it it did take me 2 years to build him up to proper show ring standard when he left racing!

I think if he is in good condition and has been schooled, even if it was 2 years ago, you probably can, I am bringing a horse back to work now, he only had a few months box rest but lost a lot of muscle is still not 100% sound so having to go very carefully, in work on vets advice, but he looks fab after 6 weeks steady walking and 2 weeks trotting he is starting to look more like a show horse than the eventer he is destined to be, he is doing 6 days a week with several days having some extra work later in the day.
If you need to bring him back anyway it can help to have an aim, even if you have to slow down and not go.

Yes - I think these two photos are about 3 months apart, but not totally sure.....it wouldn't be more than four months at most..
