Been on it about a month or so and my boys are doing very well.
Helpful feed adviceline.
I feed lucie stalks, green gold, garlic and total eclipse plus extra linseed to my young gypsy cob and old clydesdale.
I do also give them black sunflower seeds, cortaflex to the old boy and they get a few fibre nuts - these are lower in cals than their grass nuts or I would have used them too.
I swapped onto SS a year ago and I do notice a difference in my mare when schooling her - she is more attentive and less concerned with other horses. I did find it difficult to get her to eat it on occasions - she wouldn't touch her breakfast before being turned out in the summer, so panicking, I contacted Jane at SS who responded to my e-mail before the end of the day with lots of useful suggestions.
One of the best things about the feed is that it can be fed close to exercise (instead of having to wait for the horse to cool down or digest the feed) and because it is soaked you know that the horse is getting rehydrated. And the SS feeds are high in fibre, contain no molasses and no starch/grains. My horse events at PN level too so there were no concerns about energy levels.
Beau was on it for the month befor ehe went on loan, and the effects were evident after about aweek. He was a lot more, together! Not a totally different horse, just a different head on him!
Hi, ive been on SS feeds for Nearly a year. ATM i feed A very small amount of Lucibix, Purabeet, Ruffstuff, Topspec and Instant linseed. All my horses like it & my young WB has calmed down no end, & they all keep there weight & energy levels well.
