I asked for some samples as i'm worried my boy won't eat it- but they don't do them, said they would do free delivery on my first order. IMO thats not good enough!

could potentialy (sp) spend £40 FOR him not to eat any of it!

Hi, i use SS feeds been feeding it for 12 months now. I get on with it well & my horses look extremly well. I dont feed the amounts SS told me to feed as i found it was way to much. Its very cost effective for me with 3 horses. I feed Lucibix, Purabeet & ruffstuff & a small amount of Instant Linseed in winter, i also feed Topspec as a balancer as the SS one is not that comprehensive.

I do think that they should send samples out though. They can be a bit behind the times business wise. But all my horses eat it ive never had a problem in that respect.

I have been using Simple Systems for about 7 years - and although the horses initally turn it down because they are used to all the sugars in the usual cool mixes - once they realise that is their new food they do actually take to it so to be honest - sending you a small sample will be of no use as a trial. The closest to it is if you suddnly decided that your child was not going to eat pizza, chips, sweets - but eat a healthy balanced diet - with no e numbers, no added sugar and no GM then to be honest - they probably wouldn't want to BUT..... you would persist knowing that their original diet was seriously bad for them. It is the same with a horse - given a choice they will go for the sugar and molasses but for their health we have to make the decidion. Mine hoover up their simple systems - they keep weight on, they compete off it and they are totally sane. I would never go back to another brand of food.
Have you checked if there is a local stockist for Simple systems - there normally is in most areas. If so you can get just one bag from them.

I have a 20 year old clydesdale and 2 year old gypsy cob on lucie stalks and alpha gold - so I don't have to soak. They also have the total eclipse supplement put a little extra instant linseed for joints and coats.

They have never looked better. Cairo has a new lease of life - so much more energy and stamina - plus he moves far easier. They have a lot to eat, but stay perfect weight - which is how I like to feed - lots of low cal fibre.

Mine get two scoops a day of lucie stalks and 1 of green gold split into two feeds. In winter they get a little speedibeet and highlife nuts in their ball.

I also feed black sunflower seeds and carrots.

Personally I love this diet for my two.

I find the diet great horses look brill, no need to change the diet for winter/summer/increased workload etc... just vary the amounts, can feed large amounts in winter and ride horses right away, no worries about diet related illnesses and as I feed nuts a large amount of nuts and sugarbeet in winter which needs soaking they are getting a significant amount of water. Must confess I dont buy from SS though, I buy umollassed sugarbeet, alfalfa nuts, grass nuts, seaweed and linseed grains for cooking from ordinary feed merchant seems to be cheaper

I had a wobble with feeding Simple Systems, but it turns out the wobble was my fault.

I have been feeding it with Soaked Oats this winter, however everyone was getting a bit toooooo fat!! hehehee

So now I am back on just the SS feeds.

It took mine a few days to get used to it but now they love it. I think of it more as a "fabulous nutritious haynet" rather than a feed. LOL

I have been feeding it for a couple of months now and mine love it, have been keeping weight on. They are fed Lucie Bix and linseed, have large rounds of hay in field and are kept out 24/7 with good rugs on and look great.
