Anyone use?

I went for some speedibeet today and my local feed place again didn't have it- I usually buy their own brand. (they only sell that) Getting a bit bored of wasted trips followed by rush jobs to Mole Valley, where unmolassed beet is £7 more expensive per bay which is quite a lot!

SS do Purabeet, Is unmolassed beet the same whatever brand?
I have a slightly mad horse and two metabolic ponies, a more normal horse and neighbours elderly mare with bad teeth to cater for so am careful about switching feed.

I don't want anything with Alfalfa in it.

I thought maybe Purabeet and maybe Timothy chop for mad horse and the two fat ponies.
Purabeet and something soakable to replace Moles quick soak fibre (suggestions?) for old pony
Suggestions to replace just regular nuts along with beet and chop for normal horse.

Any thoughts/Suggestions?

They deliver and its free over £80 which is a fairly normal amount I'd spend doing a feed shop so that's perfect for me.

We have fed SS feeds to 3 elderly ponies with no front teeth and only very limited grinding surfaces for some years now. They couldn't eat hay or haylage, and our vet said no chaff either. Only one 29 year old left now. He has 4 feeds a day of Haycare, PB and Lucie fibre cubes. Can only manage grass of correct length. Too short and he can't get hold of it, and too long it goes straight through him, and his droppings change in consistency. The grass has to be cut with a flail mower to ensure it's just the right length for him.Looking very well on this. SS send me a text the day before to say it's being delivered. Always here within the week, and the last delivery took only 2 days.

I've got good doers but one can't have alfalfa so I don't use a lot of their products but I order haycobs, grass pellets, sainfoin chaff and sainfoin bricks.

Delivery is always professional and everything good quality.

Probably bland but if they don't eat it they don't get anything else!

I'm pretty sure their beet is the same as any other brand.

Mine had Haycare. She was fussy but ate it with no issues. It was probably better for her being quite bland as she grazed it as she would hay, but didn't scoff it like she did with Speedibeet.

Delivery was excellent. I'd order online in preference to taking a chance at a feed shop.

Sounds like it may be worth a try.
They only get Hifi lite and speedibeet now.

With the exception of the old mare and Alfie- sensible ridden horse, maybe grass nuts would be good but I worry about laminitis or them being too rich so will probably try the hay care for her. Does it soak up a lot?

I may just place a small order to try the chaff and beet first and suck up the delivery so I don’t get stuck with stuff they refuse to eat!

I don't know of any unmolassed beet that is any different to the others.
No i figured it shouldn't be in theory. Just wondered as mine soaked looks quite different to the brand used at a yard i work at (maybe that's actually just regular SB though, come to think of it!, Its always pre soaked when i get there)
Also the price difference £13.50 to £21.00 is a lot!

Yes purabeet is just that, unmollassed beet.
I've used Haycare with an oldie as hay replacer, with purabeet, haycare is Timothy grass, I like it as it has a little bit more structure when soaked, not just total mush like grass nuts

I'm thinking of switching to their beet as well. Did you notice the soaking time is ~12hrs? Could be why it's cheaper than the quick soak stuff!
I did notice that, it’s pelleted rather than flaked so guess that’s why.
I always soak for longer than the recommended 10 minute thought as it expands so much more after that and I’m rubbish at remembering, so do once a day when I do feeds for the next day. Therefore won’t make a difference to me!

Haycare makes half as much as Speedibeet. I soak one Stubbs scoop per black bucket of water for Speedibeet and 2 Stubbs scoops per black bucket of water for Haycare. That's obviously dependent on the consistency yours likes. Mine didn't like her food too sloppy.

That’s helpful thank you.
I think she would eat it absolutely any consistency really. For a pony that had completely stopped eating she is certainly making up for lost time!
