What do you think of them?

I have the chance to purchase one (Ifor Williams) and I am assured my 1.9 TDI Ford focus will tow it easily. My concern is some people have told me they are more dangerous due to having less balance and easier to tip. Is this true??

P.S. My horse is fine with it!

i love mine, i've actually heard they are better safety wise. they are brill for the horse as they have so much more room than in a partioned double. mine is brand new (new model) and honestly when i went to pick it up i initally thought it was a double!!!

Your Focus may tow it easily but it probably won't tow it legally (or safely).

I looked into this (I have a Nissan Almera Tino ie small people carrier) and my car was not heavy enough to even tow a single trailer legally.

Check the towing weights in the owner's manual.

I had a rice one a few years ago, but i loved it, had it for a couple of years and had no problems, I miss it, would have another one again anytime.

The Ifors are great as they have more room than a partition on a double. But I echo LauraandJack please please look into your car very carefully I don't think it would be legal or safe.

I have an IW single/mare&foal trailer and love it to bits.

The stability is excellent and I really don't think that anyone who has ever actually towed one would be questioning it.

Ditto everyone else about the Focus though

Agree on all counts. I have a HB401 which I tow with a 2.0tdci 130bhp Ford Mondeo. It has a kerb weight of 1505kg and rated to tow 1800kg, and is perfectly happy pulling a combined weight of trailer (780kg) and my 15.2 mare (550kg-ish).

Like I say, this combination has been fab over the last 6 months I've been using it and have had no problems up/down hills or on dual carriageway etc. I wouldn't want anything lighter though.

Not sure exactly what model you have, but for example, Parkers ( Link ) have a 2001 Focus hatchback (I could only find 1.8tdi engines, no 1.9?) as having a maximum towing capacity of 1200kg and kerb weight 1280kg which really isn't enough.
