Have they fallen out of fashion?

I've had my mare in either a lozenge or a French link for 2.5 years. I noticed when doing XC she had her mouth open all the time and if we were doing something exciting, such as hunting we had a lot of head tossing.

A friend lent me a sweet iron single jointed two ring bit and it's AMAZING, like riding a different pony she is SO happy in it. Pony has quite a fleshy mouth and just seems a much happier girl in this bit.

So knowing that the bit is on loan and not dressage legal (not that we ever do dressage but I'd like to have something for schooling), I thought I'd have a look around for something similar... but a quick look on google and I can't even see a sweet iron single joint hanging cheek, everything has a lozenge or similar in the middle.

Is it just my mare that prefers a single joint?
