Hi, I'm new to this forum, so I'm probably posting this in the totally wrong place!!

Ive had horses before and Now i have a 16hh arab x only had her for 4 months so I've decided to look for a single trailer so we can get out and about.
Does anyone know of any for sale in Scotland, or the north east?

Thank you, Christine

Single ones are notoriously hard to get second hand as they are sort after by those wishing to tow on a B (no B+E) licence which also means they hold a good second hand price so in many cases there is hardly a difference in price between used and new !!

Before viewing a used trailer CHECK THIS OUT

OH and .... WELCOME

I have seen a few on Preloved, so I would definitely start by having a look on there.

Sorry to hijack, but has anyone got any experience of towing a single trailer? I was thinking about getting one, but they just don't look stable! They look like they would topple over when you go round a corner!!!

How about an old but sturdy Rice Beaufort? A decent one is still cheap as chips - ours was dirt cheap and its in fab condition! They're lightweight (only 750kg unladen!) and will accomodate a 16hh horse with ease, especially if you take the partition out and put in full breast/breach bars as you're only travelling one, so he can stand herringbone and get himself comfy :)
I'm planning on towing ours on a B licence once I get my new car :)

I have towed a single rice trailer and it felt very stable to tow but I was towing a cob so low centre of gravity ;)

I do prefer the older heavier ones as they just seem more trustworthy somehow.

Ours is a double and will take either 2 cobs or 1 decent size horse with the partition out :) we love it! The horses don't seem to mind it either ;) its like an old tank, seems so stable and sturdy, I don't know how it manages to be so light! I can hitch it up by myself, and me and my mum can push it across the yard if we need to. Its brill!

I bought an Ifor Williams HB401 (mare and foal box) a few years ago and absolutely loved it. I was sadly stolen and I bought a HB505 after that. Have to say, I much preferred the single, so much so I've sold my double and I'm going to treat myself to a brand new HB403 in the new year. I did get the same price for my double as I paid for it....they really hold their value.

We have a mondeo 2.2ltr 155bhp to tow with and I feel very safe towing with it, although I'm careful where I go. Everything about them is easy...moving around to hitch up, masses of room inside for one horse, can tow with a large family car etc.

I say go for it....well worth it!

You can tow on a B licence if the trailer is light enough, you have its MAM downplated but can still accomodate your horse plus a bit to spare, and if with the right car the whole lot comes in at under 3.5 tonnes :)
I plan on towing mine with an Audi A4 2.5 tdi estate :)
There's plenty of threads on here about B licence towing, it can be done!

Il be looking to possibly get one of these next year for my cob. I like the idea of it being easier to tow, but I used to use my double trailer when I had one to go and get hay, which was really useful and I'm worried that I may need to take two one day, ie. if I want to take my friend out with her horse as well. When I looked at the prices they weren't far off a new one or a good second hand double one, so will need to think more about it.
Try horse mart, that's where I looked, and just put into google, second hand single trailer and see what comes up.

I found mine on Preloved, and my friend got hers from their after she placed a wanted advert.

Good luck finding one! I absolutely love mine!

Try all the horsey facebook pagez, a Godsend. Also ebay of course however I agree with the others, I ended up buying a really old rice beaufort and love it. I only have 1 horse so didnt need a double but cheaper & yesterday I took 2 out...u never know who would like to travel with u & they may hold the licence for towing the 2 so its much more sociable.
