Single trailers: experiences/opinions please

I bought a single Cheval Liberte from new. It is super. The standing space is wider than you get for each horse in a double. Excellent headroom. Light and roomy. Very stable to tow. Warmblood loads straight away. Tow with my husbands car.

I have an IW HB401, about 5years old. Really like it, so does my horse (she knows no once else can get in and nab her hay! ;) ) and has been really easy to tow/manouvere. As mentioned, the horse gets more space that being in half of a double. I've also been able to tack/boot/stud up inside mine when weather rotten.

I have a 3 yo HB401 & love it. Much easier to get through narrow gaps than a double. Tow with Nissan Primera. V roomy inside. No loading problems for me. Cant think why anyone with one horse would want a double.

Personally I wouldn't feel safe towing a single trailer, but that may be because I am used to my Ifor 510. Have seen a few singles on the motorway and tbh frighten the hell out of me.

May feel differently if I tried it though

I terms of width, the HB401 is only 35cm narrower (overall width) than the HB505 and 57cm narrower than a HB510, which isn't a huge amount really.

Like you say, can't really comment on how a single is to tow unless you've towed one! ;) They're not the old "wardrobes on wheels" they used to be!

I used to two a single Laurie about 30 yrs ago - no problems but it was twin axle. Plenty of room inside. Would of quite liked one now but like hens teeth to get hold of so I have a double and use one side.

fab - i have a hb401 - bought it new 2 yrs ago and is fantastic, plenty of room inside, tow it with freelander, if freelander gets through gap so can trailer as exact same width. I will only ever tow one horse so pointless having double trailer - heavier and uses more fuel to tow.

I have a HB401 and I absolutely love it, being the same width of my car it makes towing so much easier and it feels really safe and stable on the road. I tow with a volvo 940 estate, so a very long combination! But never had any trouble towing my TB and as above posts state, it is more roomy for him than a double

we had a single Ifor Williams, it was great and the horse and the pony before both really liked it. east to tow, very stable and you could tack up insde it. we towed with a Peugeot 406 and then a VW passat, both towed fine.
