Much as this is horrible. Maybe someone did genuinely think the puppy was dead and it was a horrible accident. It seems a bit weird that there would only be one if it was on purpose. I know that litters of 1 can happen but they're aren't exactly common.

Glad the little one is getting better though, obviously
