... Was hoping to be able to do a big celebratory post with some ridden pics from our lesson last night showing just how far he's come, but when I pulled him out of the field yesterday he'd lost a front shoe
So I decided to bring him out of the field today and give him a bit of a pampering... and just for good measure when I arrived today he'd pulled the other one off as well! Bl00dy knobber horse!
So yous'll have to take my word for it that he's like a different horse to ride now! I'm super proud with how far we've both come. My riding has improved loads and he's really responded. He now uses his back end, steps out more, has a much better action, his canter is a million times better, he's gone from not having a halt at all to doing trot-halt transitions, he's light in the hand and quick off the leg. He's gone from a giraffe with an inverted neck to working very naturally nice and low - even his head carriage when he's wandering to and from the field is totally different from when I got him! His leg yielding just gets better and better, we've started shoulder in and walk pirouettes
I schooled him last Sunday and he was AMAZING. Best he's ever felt, absolutely incredible. He was immaculate in everything he did, we even began to collect his canter - until now have just been sending him forwards, then getting him to balance himself. Jumped him on Tuesday over a small grid while the other horses were getting their feet trimmed and going to/from field... he concentrated on me so well and ignored everything going on around him, so pleased with him!
So no 6 month ridden pics, but here's a then and now of him the day he arrived, and today. What do you think of his weight? I think he's just about right - he's been on the heavy side and light side but I think he's looking good at the moment? Excuse his feet today, he did a job on them when he pulled his shoes off
He may be a knobber, a vandal and a complete clown, but he's my knobber, vandal and complete clown and I absolutely love him to bits!
Day 1
Today (disclaimer before I get jumped on: he's not tied to the fence - the leadrope is just draped over the rail
