I used to have a fab SJ instructor who always came up with amazing, fun exercises that kept my mare and I thinking and improving our skills. She's now many miles away and with that mare coming back after injury, it's tricky to try to attend clinics etc as she absolutely cannot be pushed. So... looking for a source of similar exercises so we can have fun while we're waiting for the fitness to return and the muscle to build! And yes, vet says she can jump, but she has PSSM so re-building the muscle isn't exactly a piece of cake.

Recommendations please!

Watch the Caroline Moore videos they are all on Facebook under Caroline Moore Event Coach

Luciana Diniz's Butterfly exercises. Google to find the best place to see them. She varies between Instagram, websites and Youtube.

Laine Ashker used to do a few as well. Also might be worth looking on E-Venting.co.uk as they have a fair few

I would be EXTREMELY careful using any exercises that Laine posts. She is a 4* rider and a while back some fans tried to duplicate some of her exercises and broke themselves quite badly. (Arm, Couple collarbones etc)

How? Unless they set the jumps too high??? I had a look and can mostly see gridwork ideas.

I don't know all the specifics but her gridwork in the past has included many jumps (Which we would expect coming from training with Buck). I am only speculating the actual cause of the injuries but I would postulate that folks at home building really intensive bounces and multi fence grids may not have been the most prepared for the feel of an elaborate grid, or the horses could have been less than genuine when faced for the first time with a sea of rails.

Moreover spectators duplicating what they see on Social media isn't a situation I would encourage since the skill levels vary wildly. Laine is an accomplished rider. Little Suzie Q wanting to emulate her maybe can't do a .70 course. That's what I am trying to say.

You can't legislate for stupidity though. Its tricky as how do you post interesting ideas for riders competing at 1m+ or as aspirational exercises and also pick up on dumb people doing stuff they should not.

You know that's so true. I went on a 2 hour walking trail ride at the site of the Fair Hill International 4* (Soon to be a 5* in the future) and one of my friends with us who lives and rides there often was telling us how people were out schooling over the 4* and 3* obstacles a few weeks ago without helmets on. I mean 1) that course is never open for schooling 2) The fences are not currently prepped with the decoration/brush that goes on them 3) the horses involved were described as likely not to be seasoned jumpers, but that could just be incorrect (Looked like they had non jumping tack on).

You can't fix stupid.
