Took Digby to Overa Farm Stud for he BSJA today. The outdoor arenas which were not great last time were waterlogged so they used the indoor. Although we had to either warm up in a bog or in a tiny indoor (which i chose to do- even though i could only really do anything if i was in there on my own)

Took him into the 85cm it was actually more like 90cm to be honest (i even heard the course builders joking about being a bit slap happy puting the fences up

)

he went round lovely in the gag (with roundings) did not back of anything and to be honest he very similar as in a snafle but it just helped with getting him where i wanted him and him not being so wooden through his jaw, which was the main aim as hes not at all strong in a snaffle.
Almost had a bit of a whoopsie as could not get a good line for one fence and he had locked onto the wrong one but he jumped a lovely clear.

I was going to do the BN but tbh the couple of fences which were up for that in there already looked no bigger so thought we would save time and money and pop him in the clear round again.

This time he thought he knew what he was doing and was a bit faster (well for him anyway

) and flat but jumped another clear.

a nice day and exactly what we needed really

no photos- didn't bother taking the camera.

Going to try the bit xc schooling hopefully this week....after my BE i will probably swap and play with a few others but the gag seemed to work today so is what i will be using on Sunday all being well

Hattie is really snaffle mouthed but when i was smaller on her i needed something to lift her head and sit her back on her hocks and the cheltenham gag was great for her, now am back in lozenged snaffle for SJing and the cheltenham just for XC, sometimes you need that extra bit in their mouths to lift them up and help them out

When's your next outing?

I am at Burnham Market on Sat to do his first intro.

I am so worked up about it which is silly as i know he is more than capable in all three phases. I am hoping to take him xc schooling somewhere in the week just to pop him over a few to refresh his memory as wherever i have taken him recently has always been the same old venues so wil be good to get him looking at other things
