My sj partnership with Adrian is a bit hit & miss cos I'm subconsciously riding him as if he's got the experience of my late horse, Cat. I've only had Adrian a few months, he's just 5 & we're also both getting used to a new saddle & new bit.
So the plan for today was to take the pressure off & go unaff & try to 'bond' a bit better. I was hoping to concentrate better on my riding if I wasn't having to worry about big jumps. But by the time I levered o/h out of bed, I was only just in time to walk the 3 ft course!! Barely had time to tack up. Our round was okay in places & ragged in other places, & we came 6th. Then did the 3 ft 3 too which was smoother & came 2nd. Quite pleasing as there was a water tray & a really huge A frame PetPlan filler, & Adrian wasn't bothered.
What a lovely venue! It was our first time there. In particular, the man doing the sj was so nice & friendly. Definitely worth the long-ish drive.
