SJ Squad for the European Champs

Actually I too would have taken a chance in having Romanov in the five. Gemma and Osiris are a good pair, and their NC record in 3 Promotional League events (2 this year and 1 last) is very decent but their GP record is not - 8 faults and elimination. And in 2007 (Copenhagen 4*) they had 8 faults in the 1st round of the NC (team didn't qualify for the 2nd) and the same in the GP.

I don't mean to be rude but I don't think you do or you'd not have posted what you have. I note that you deleted a post you made earlier saying that Billy Congo is not inexperienced and that one of the horses Guy rode in the NCs was only 8. Perhaps you realised your mistakes or someone else pointed them out to you.

to be fair to lolobundo, the age that horses are being asked to jump at major championships is getting youner all the time. I can think of two eight year olds that have been jumping in GCT GP,s this year and wasnt ludger's All inclusive only 9 when jumping in hong kong? in which case he must have jumped some prety sisnificant courses as an eight year old to be qualified and also selected. I dont think he was the only one either.
but I also dont think Billy Congo good enough right now though he may be in future.

well not being rude, but i really do understand the requirements for super league level, and as lucretia said that horses are getting younger all the time, so if they are good enough at a young age then why not give them a chance at a young. well at the end of the day its my opinion and i'm not going to comment anymore about this subject!

Yes of course it's your opinion, and we are all entitled to our opinions. Horses at this level are NOT getting younger all the time, and there was just one 8 year-old in the Aga Khan Cup last week. I am almost certain that Will would not have put forward Billy Congo (in view of his inexperience at top level) as a possible for Super League Nations Cup selection this year. There is a bigger difference between the Promotional League level NCs & GPs and those of the Super League;GCT/ GPs; European Champs; and World Cup Western European League Qualifiers than many people appear to realise.

Will is protecting Billy Congo very carefully as he has his sights on London 2012 with him. He rates the horse very highly... The fact that he 'only' jumped him in the Queen Elizabeth at Hickstead a couple of weeks ago rather than the King George bears testament to this.

At the end of the day, yes, there are a handful of 8yo's and 9yo's jumping at the very highest level...but they are the exception...and tend not to last too long

I note that again you deleted a post which you belatedly realised was erroneos i.e. that you'd not stated which year. Of course you did - you claimed that he should have been on a team this year. Probably best if you do keep your opinions to yourself or rather, think carefully before you post.

dont worry about it lolbundo, you are entitled to come on here and say what you think within reason, you can be sure someone will always correct you if you are wrong!!

well i didnt really like the way she was 'trying' to correct me, saying that i dont know about what is required to jump at that level competition, and at the end of the day i was just putting across my opinion because i feel if its good enough as an 8 year old then why not give it a chance, even if its just one event, give it a chance to see how it performs
