Can anyone recommend me a show jumping teacher in the Thetford area? Ideally I would like someone who can ride my horse as well as me (she's 15 hands) to demonstrate if needs be, and someone who can offer in-house schooling as well as teaching. Both myself and my horse are novices. I am happy to travel for lessons and do have a medium size menage at home.

There's a guy just outside Bury-st-Edmunds, but for the life of me, I can't think of his name. A pro rider who I know uses him and says that he's excellent. The pro and I currently aren't talking, so I'll have to find another way!! ;)

It will come to me!!

Agree, Sharon is a really good teacher and is getting some excellent feedback. She relates very well to her pupils...no matter what their level of experience.

Alec, could it be Barratt Watson you thinking of?

Yes, it was Barratt Wilson. Well done!

I arranged for over night stabling and parking for Ms Hunt and her horses, when they were at Houghton, I think it was. She seemed to be under some illusion that I was her servant. She was wrong.

I'm surprised that you said that Alec, I've always found her to be totally amenable and never "above her station" as you implied :)

Sharon is an incredibly focused person, who is also a perfectionist in what she does, I guess that is why she has one of the best riding styles and seats in the eventing world. However I have always found her to be kind and helpful, maybe you got her on a rare off day:confused:

Thanks guys, really helpful feedback, so appreciated, it's so difficult otherwise to know where to start to look, and nothing beats personal recommendation.

Rachael Chandler is a great teacher - happy to ride or teach from the ground, plus McTimothy therapist for horses. She's based in Norwich, but travels around, check out Facebook - she has her horses at 'Oxnead Equestrian' which has a lovely new outdoor school with jumps.:)
