Hey, I sold my horse to a girl in Aberdeen who gets an ex-eventer as her instructor - Iain Donaldson I think is the name. She really rates him. I could find out if you like?

Hhmm... a difficult one. Does Martin Arnott travel up to your area for clinics - I've heard he's good but no direct experience. Don't think Ron Brady travels much now but could be wrong. Does Sandra Low-Mitchell do anything up your way?

Just some thoughts - sorry not to be more use!

I know of a really good one but he is in Falkirk but he does travel all over coaching?? He use to teach the jumiour bsja team so he knows what he is on about & has evented high up as well!

PM if interested!

I used to get Ernest when he used to come up here. I believe he still does teach in my area but further away, too far to travel for lessons. k9h - Is it Ernest you mean? He was really good as well

I also had lessons with Andrew Bonelli Baird (DABBS) for a while but again, he doesnt come up here anymore.

Sea_View - That would be great if you could confirm his name and possibly any contact details / info.

measles - I dont think any of those people teach up here, not that Ive heard of anyway?

Yes it was Ernest I was thinking of. I was his groom when he was in Bristol so use to get taught for free!! Darn should of applied for job when he advertised the other week!!

I'm a bit further West but I've had a few lessons from Colin Hexlay. He's a BSJA course builder (does BE Burgie and the BSJA at Keith show etc). He is brilliant. I get Andrew Hamilton when he's up with the RC.

Calum macdonald at loanhead is very popular and the best who actually lives in the area. (he is a BSJA course builder). Alan Spalding also was good but not sure if he still teaches. Jeremy spring is at loanhead everymonth at weekends. Jennifer johnstone teaches from her yard at kintore and has a good rep as an instructor.

Other than that there is a guy called john karl- jacqes (think I have made up how to spell the name!) but i know of some dressage people having jumping lessons from him at rothienorman (and he has some decent jump for joy jumps) I don't know if Joe ronald is still on the go teaching near fraserburgh but he has a very good rep as a sj.

the Ian donaldson guy is most likely ian duncan and to be honest depends how much you do as to how much use he would be to you. I had an enforced lesson with him through riding club teams years and years ago and he was downright dangerous with a grid to prove a point (that he was very wrong about) but novicey people particularly love him!

I presume you get holidays though at your new job and it may be possible to take 1/2 days and go to andrew hamilton if you are happy with him! Other people with jobs manage so don't panic just yet!
