Well, if you've read the belated Solihull PN report you'll know that my grey [in my signature] has been having a bit of a time of it with his SJ. Hired out the local EC today, and they still had a BSJA track up. Took both T & P as it gave me a chance to try P in the myler before taking him to ALW - seemed stupid not to see how it worked around a course!!
Well, T's warm up wasn't too fantastic, kept chipping in a short one to a X pole which is so unlike him. Began building up to a course, stringing a few fences together etc. He was taking me into them, but back off a couple of strides out, or chipping in the short one. Got him popping round intro height, not as fluid as I'd like but clear. Pushed them up to just PN, and poles were going everywhere, and a stop at the first. Dropped a few of them down a hole and took him round again, tried the "hunt them round" approach and it didn't feel much better, just knocked two poles. Stopped there, and decided to get on P and just get on with him.
P was v spooky as hadn't been out for a while as he had stitches in recently - bl***y horse cost us over £200
. Anyway, he was a little pingy - if he did those paces in a dr arena, we'd be right up there
warmed him up over what T had done, and he was over jumping everything. Mum asked if I wanted everything up, and I said yes. She put it all up FOUR holes. *gulp*. I'd not been able to "play" on a surface with him since I'd tried him, so I was interested how he'd jump them with more education under his belt. He absolutley wowed me, so mum stuck them up TWO more. Mum said to me "Oh these are decent!" "No, they're bl***y huge". I'd not done a track that big, and I suddenly felt V out of my league! However, knew I had the horsepower underneath me to do it, but if I rode like a muppet that's when it'd all go wrong. [Doesn't it always?!]
Well. The little star jumped his socks off, despite some
moments from me. Only got 1 pole, which was totally my fault as I just let the canter get flat. Mum then went round with the measure stick....two at 1.10 [no problem, been doing 1.10's], 3 at 1.15, 3 at 1.20, and 1 at 1.25! ! !

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWI96Xee8c8 dead proud of my pony. Would liked to have done it a bit bigger, but as you can see he was a sweaty betty so not really fair on him
as always open to CC, but do remember our first time doing a complete track this height!
Took T's temp when we got home, 37.8. Slightly raised, as I seem to remember the right temp is 37? His wind doesn't seem to cracking either, so am under the impression he might be coming down with something. Will keep an eye on him, keep him rugged up, and just keep him hacking. Thoughts?
ETA : if you're wondering what it says on the back of my shirt, it says "The more men I meet, the better I love my horse". Shocking grammar I know, but I loved the sentiment
