I have a yearling who has a weird skin thing going on.
It started when we stripped his rugs spring time and he had a big lump of hair in an area come off which we initially thought was just rubbing. The hair aroudn the area has been died and looks light brown (the colt is black).
A few weeks later it became very sore to touch and had what looked like fungus on it. A friend had ringworm before and had some Ivermectin (or whatever it is called
) and kept it washed and clean and it cleared up.
But since then he keeps having outbreaks. It isn't as sore now but we clean it, a week later it starts oozing again, which starts off just looking like a wet surface but then turns into this white stuff.
We finally, after numerous attempts to try and clear it up got our vet to skin scrape it which has come back negative. It has baffled our vet as well. We are now going to try antibiotics starting from today for 10 days to see if that clears it up. We have also tried Iodine solution but its still looking wet and oozing after a few days.
It hasn't spread over his body and has remained contained to this one area.
Does anyone have any suggestion as to what this could be?
