My JRT has been chewing and biting around her tail area and her skin has gone from very pale pink to PINK. It is not her anal glands and I have de flea'd her with advantage, so has anyone any ideas what it could be

Complete guess here, but worms? I was thinking like threadworms in children?

I always use Frontline myself, so not sure how effective Advantage is against fleas though

Worms almost for sure or a bite from an insect.

My JRTs are due a top up. My vet gives me drops that does worms & fleas - you put the drops on the back of the neck and try and stop them rubbing it straight back off on the carpet!

Good luck

Ah right, in that case probably not worms! Could it be (sorry, cant spell this) kayletyella? It is a skin mite which causes pink skin irritation, nibbling and scratching?

I know Frontline gets rid of it, but I think it has to be a strongish dose?

Here - had to google it cos the spelling thing was annoying me

"Cheyletiella mites look like tiny spiders under a magnifying glass and are often called “Walking Dandruff” because upon close inspection it seems like little flakes of dry skin are actually moving about. Partly because they live on the surface of the skin, these tiny critters can be eliminated easily by using any common flea shampoo. And here’s a creepy thought… Cheyletiella mites can be transmitted to humans where they create, just like on the dog, alopecia (hair loss) with a dry, flaky, slightly pruritic skin surface"
