Deosect and medicated shampoos are quite hard on the skin. All the natural oils will have been stripped which will be making his skin dry and itchier even now the bugs are gone. I would be stopping shampoo and letting the skin recover. Maybe some hot clothing would soothe and moisturise. Is he on anything for skin support feed wise? He might not need it, may just take a bit more time for him to bounce back if he was in poor condition.

Mine has sweet itch so I always see sweet itch, but even if he doesn't have it an SI rug might give him a bit of protection from scratching himself and help the skin retain some moisture.

Thankyou so much,i have stopped the shampoo now lice are clear apart from last week i used the soothing shampoo but diluted it .he isnt on anything food wise to support the skin do you have any recommendations? I.ll get an si rug immediately, hes not itching constant but does nip at his sides at rubs his neck where the skin is really dry x

Micronised linseed is the typical recommendation, for the fats and omega 3, but if he is still just a bit run down he might be okay with just good quality forage and a bit of time for the skin to build up some natural oils again. I don't want to tell you to throw a load of products at him and cost you a fortune! If he is still itching enough to break or irritate skin, biteback do a topical cream (again, designed for sweet itch) that might help locally. There are loads of soothing creams on the market but I do know biteback works!
