it's hard to describe but i'll have a go - Blacky has all these little bumps on her head, mainly under her forelock, on her stripe down her face. they don't bother or itch her but if you look at them close, they are yellowish?

if you scratch her there, really small clumps of hair come out with these bits attached to the bottom. anyone any idea what it is or what can be used to get rid of it?

sounds like a bit of a heat rash or something along those lines, i wouldnt worry about it too much. Just keep it clean, maybe with a drop of hibi scrub and it will probally go down in a couple of weeks. One on my boys had a simialr thing i think a little while ago, just left it to sort itself out and it eventually did.

my horse has a v v similar problem and it is proving near impossible to get rid off, but doesn't sound as much as yours.
My horse had it wen i got her caused by fly bite irritation as she had never had a fly rug all summer. Vet advised wash with hibiscrun once a week or this will dry skin more. Wash everytime i've ridden her, i use little bit of tea tree shampoo them my mum made me some aloe vera gel with me essential oils for skin probs in which i slap on twice a day, vet had given me some cream but it didn't work at all.

Also i wsh her numnah after nearly every ride and i use a cotton sheet i wash regulalry under her other rugs! it finally seems to be getting a little better woohoo!!!
