My skinney boy has only had a light weight rug on for the past few days, but today he did, HE WENT NAKED :D, the light weight will begoing back on at night.

So far we seem ( touch wood) to have come out of winter no worse than we went into it, but his top line is still a worry, next to the fit horses his girth area is the same , but his top line and cow bum simply refuse to go away.

I am now starting to think that I will have to get used to this confirmation, but at least he is happy, and as grumpy as he used to be and able to let the rest of the herd know it, he gave both barrells today to the head of the herd horse, but he ran like heck when he realised what he had done :D

It was also nice to give him a good scrub down, and boy, did he enjoy it, his tail was moving all around telling me where to scrub, and the look of thanks that he gave me was just, priceless.

Thanks for listening

That is such sweet post. Sounds like you have accepted your horse for him,and not what you would like him to be!!

The weight will improve in the next few weeks, and i'm sure you're doing all you can to improve his topline.

Pat on the back to you.

THanks for that Cazza, your kind comments made my day.

He came out of last winter a bag of bones, but has come out of this one, wth perhaps a little more weight than he went into it. I spent all of last year trying to get weight on, but I think I will now have to put the lack of topline down to old age.

It is getting quite upsetting as only 3 years ago had to try to keep his weight down.

I guess though he is not doing to badly for a nearly 30yr old TB
