Hello, I'm making quite a habit of this now. I should be studying!

Does anyone out there know of any good leather long boots, be them smart or casual that have a calf width of 35cm / 14" ish?? I spent a whole hour this morning in country equestrian making the poor man pull out pair after pair of size 8 long boots only for them to be too big round the calf. I think toggi canyons were the narrowest but even then they were too wide by a good inch or two. If anyone could recommend some then this would be the end of a big headache. Ta

Get some made... i spent AGES looking for long skinny boots with a back zip and none fitted. It got to the point i was looking at £500-600 ones, and they still weren't right.

In the end i got some made by a company for £160... 12 years on they are still a perfect fit and look like new. I can't remember the name of the company sadly, but i did find the advert in the back of H and H!

Yes I was thinking this may be the route I have to go down. If you could remember the company I would be forever grateful!!!

I THINK they were called Wheatley boots... i know they were based in the Midlands . I did have a quick google and found people talking about them so you might find they are still going strong. I also found some boots on ebay which say they are Wheatley but they don't look as nice leather as mine (I had calf leather as wanted good feel for dressage).

I did also find these people but they are VERY pricey? http://www.taylormadeshoes.co.uk/shoes/riding-boots.htm

Looks like i'd better carry on looking after mine if it's so hard to get hand made ones at a good price!

I have the same problem. I'm even skinnier than you! I gave up looking in the end and went for jod boots and chaps. Tredstep do long dressage chaps in skinny sizes and I have to say, they look just as smart as any "whole" boot.

Brogini and Mark Todd I've always heard to be good for skinnier legs (Brogini also do ones for larger legs, such as mine :D) and are nice and tight (well, not tight, but slim fitting?) around the ankles, unlike some other makes xx

HKMs tend to be good for skinny calves (mine are a weedy 12") but if you are tall they would probably come up a bit short! They are fairly inexpensive and very comfortable though :)

I have same problem - I need a 32cm calf but 51cm height!

I have mountain horse supreme high riders which are perfect

I tried Brogini but too baggy round ankle
Ariat Bromont were too short and wide
Mark Todd too wide
De Niro boots (the cheapest ones) were too short
It was a total nightmare!!

Mountain horse have stopped sending my size to UK I got one of the last 2/3 pairs in the country that were hiding in a tack shop somewhere so hoping they last!

I too am a 14" calf and am tall so have had real difficulty finding long leather boots. My saddler did have in a beautiful pair of Ciaou Bella full leather lined boots - my size foot but an xxs in calf width and reduced from £350 to £95. I was there half an hours trying to zip these boots up, even ended up lying on the floor while my friend pulled the zip! Sadly it was not to be.... I bought Ariat Quantum boots with close contact chaps and they really do look lovely. I was advised to buy them on the small calf and long leg side so have had to work them in a bit before I could go out and compete with working legs!

I've just bought a pair, and they are very tight (the narrow fit) do they give much as you wear them in?

For me the calf has always been fine (size 5, 12" calf) but they were snug round the ankle at first. It didnt take long for them to break in though and they look like they've been m2m :)

The other boots i was considering were the treadstone winter tall boots which come in 5 calf widths

I have 12 inch claves and so bought a pair of 13 inch Brogini boots..

LOVE them! After my saddle they're the best horse item I've ever bought, fantastic quality, perfect fit, so comfortable. I ride in them 6 days a week and have done for 18 months and they still look like new!
