Me? I'm just tight and resent spending money when I don't have to, OH says it gives me more to buy useless nags with!

I finally have a tackroom, so went looking for racks, as you do. The cheapest I could find were $24.00 (about 12 pounds ) Sod that for a game of marbles. I've seen these at other yards, and have just made myself a whole bunch (10) of saddle racks with stuff found in the barn for nothing. Bit of tarting up and they'll match the tackroom. I'm such a skinflint. Now, I NEED 10 saddles

So, do you just buy what you need or make do with whatever you can lay your hands on? Does anyone remember making bridle hooks from old saddle soap cans?

Ah that would be far too much effort for me!! Well done to you though!
I'm a horsey shopaholic, I loathe shopping for human things, but let me loose in a tack shop and I can easily spend at least £1k! So I would definately rather buy than make!

ah yes haynets, me too! Except mine always ended up really thin and scraggy and would hold enough hay to feed an anorexic guinea pig!!!!!!!! Must have been doing something wrong.

I've been buying from the US even with shipping things are working out cheaper than shop prices + tax. (Like VAT, but not included in the price you see )

I make mounting blocks, bridle racks, rug racks, anything really. I enjoy doing it & if it saves a bit then great. I'm fortunate that OH is a fully qualified bridle stitcher so repairs to leatherwork, rugs etc are all done professionally & free. Horses are expensive to keep so if you can saver a little it all helps.
