Sleep deprivation thoughts!!!

My horse has been diagnosed with sleep deprivation which vets are baffled as to why he is not sleeping properly has a number of other issues going on ie colic ect but theses are not linked , any thoughts welcomed !!! X

Serious question: How do you diagnose sleep deprivation?

The header interested me as sleep deprivation was used as a training technique at least as early as the 16th century.
