sleeves made longer?! can it be done?

Bought myself a lovely tweed, problem is the sleeves arnt quite as long as i thought does anyone know if its possible to have them taken down like a hem on trousers? they have a fair bit upturned and stitched in the cuffs, how much would this normally cost? it needs about 3"!! has anyone had this done before?

Mother dearest let my sleeves down in the same situation so was free but did work. Provided you've got enough length to let out and it's not going to HOYS, should be fine to do - probably about £20 to get done.

It doesn't look too hard, just never heard of it being done before?!

get them let down as much as they can and then wear gloves with the longest wrist bit possible!!

(advice from one giraffe armed rider to another, I think it was all the years I spent riding supercharged ponies they stretched me beyond recognition!! You should try being BROAD shouldered, slim waisted, large breasted and long armed! I should just give up and become a swimmer)

Thats a good tip about the gloves! am sick of trying on showing jackets to find the sleeves too short. Normal everyday suit type jackets seem to be longer in the arms, its just horsey jackets?!

Yes you can let the sleeves down , but depends on the jacket and the amount of fabric that is on the underside as the turn up cuff. make sure you steam heavily the crease on the orginal turn as it will always slightly bend and be annoying. If your not too handy with a needle and thread, Johnsons the dry cleaners have an alteration service if you can't find a seamstress in your town.
