My Lurchers are for ever doing this on flints. I make sure it's scrupulously clean and give a weeks antibiotics, you can glue them but they never stick back together in my experience.
They never seem to be too painful but will give a couple of days pain relief if needed
(owning Lurchers I always have a stash of antibiotics and painkillers in the kitchen cupboard)

H has done this. I have found that trimming any flappy bits and then wrapping in vetwrap works for us. It has to be protected as when he catches it playing it opens up again.

Thanks , got some metacalm will give him some tonight , vetwrap got aswell , as for chopping off flappy bits , uuurgh but if it helps it to heal , anything for my baby .

If you are self medicating then just make sure you are getting the doses correct and length of course of antibiotics. To be honest if the wound is very open and you keep it nice and clean you may not need antibiotics. Cut off the dead bits and shower it daily - cover it when out and to prevent licking but leave it open if you can.

Buster sliced his clean in half (as in hanging), no idea how, he did it in the garden.

Hibiscrubbed it clean wrapped it in gauze and vet wrap for 48hrs.

Then when the bleeding stopped changed dressing every 48hrs and applied Camrosa on it until it healed. He has a faint scar. Took about 2 weeks. No antibiotics, I dont like giving animals antibiotics unless really needed look at us humans with our allergies, Cdiff, MRSA.

Heres a link to my no1 first aid accessory, camrosa.
