slight cow hocks

Not if you're not paying a lot.

Our son's first pony did all the things that you want at local level, and despite being really pretty, had cow hocks and pigeon toes! No problems what so ever! It won showing classes at local level/pc - especially whp.

The only time it came up, was when we advertised it. As I mentioned the pony was really pretty, so a lot of showing people rang up asking if it could do county level showing. When I said no as it had poor leg conformation they grumbled, and said they wanted something to do top level showing. I thought they had a cheek really - the pony was under £1000, and they'd have to pay much more for a county show pony. The pony was sold to another experienced pc home, and is doing great with them too - despite the hocks! If the pony is fine in other ways, and well priced, I'd get it bought...
 
LOL, no I had not seen that pony.

The one that were are very keen on, is extremly good looking except for this minor problem.

So it is good to know that it wont nessicarily affect it a local level, and pony club.

Going for another look this weekend, so now I will have to just not ook at its hocks LOL
 
:) The pony who taught me the most also had slight cow hocks and pigeon toes!!! He was sound until he closed his eyes for the final time aged 32. We did a bit of everything, dressage, local showing, jumping at home and on hacks, started driving aged 24ish.

Its not the worst defect, and if its only slight I personally wouldn't be too worried. Incidently, two of mine now also have cow hocks, and not a single problem so far (touch wood etc etc!!)
