Hi,
i have a 16.2 just turned 6 ISH, who i plan to event. Whenever we do hard work, ie. cross country trainging, he seems to often go slightly lame afterwords. He is never badly lame, and is allways right after about 3 days, but this is very annoying! Is it just that he is stiff, or is there something else? He is fit enough for the work, and is ridden 5/6 times a week, is there any way that i can stop him going lame, or is it just a young horse thing?
Thanks in advance.

It is not a young horse thing it is a sign something is wrong, it could be muscular, feet, saddle or a myriad of other things but if it happens after every hard session it needs investigating before he goes really lame and cannot do the job required.
If he was older I would still be concerned but less so as it can be a sign of wear and with careful management the horse should be able to be kept comfortable but in a 6 year old it would really concern me.

Thanks, hes just had a new saddle fitted, so dont think its that. There isnt any heat or swelling so i dont know what it is. Its not after every session, only sometimes, especially when the ground is hard.
