14.2 pony came in from the field on Monday noticably lame on near fore. I thought I could feel heat and small amount of swelling to the back and above the fetlock. Also felt some heat in the foot. Farrier came out the next morning and took the shoe of but could find nothing, we trotted the pony up and both farriers and I thought he was sound. (They def. know a lame horse!)
So I let my son keep riding him this week, nothing to strenuous and he was fine until today. Again lame (4/10?) in trot with tiny amount of swelling and slight heat in same area. If anything he became sounder as we looked at him, ie it seemed to wear off.
Any thoughts anyone, obviously I'll get the vet out on Monday and keep him in until then, but I have no experience of fore leg joint/ligament/tendon problems, does this sound like one?
Before he went lame he had been 100% and he is fit and very well, he's had a great summer of pony club etc. The day before all this started he was turned out but did escape from one field into another - could be relevant?
Any help much appreciated.
