My loan TB knocked himself in the field the other day and his leg filled around the front pastern, he was lame but trotted up next day sound, given box rest for a day, then out in field and rested further 2 days, trotted up every day bar the first one 100% fine but didn't want to risk it.
Brought back into work, then 2 days later goes lame on the same leg again, however I think it's the leg he strikes out with (being a new horse and meeting the new ones, probably how he did the first knock), found a small nick on the back of his leg and the fence in his field was collapsed into his paddock - I think he struck out at new horse, got leg caught and then pulled back, and injured himself. His leg's now filled around the sides though.
I'm just wondering if this will go down - he's fully sound again, it's not puffy or anything, just a little filled. He had 3 days off for this knock and careered around the field day 3 - sound as anything. Trotted up today, and then had a gentle walk-trot school and he was fine (and believe me, when he's lame you know about it
) Is this probably just filling from his knocks and will go down soon? If he was still lame I would definitely call the vet out but he's not at all, you can trot him up concrete, flexion test the leg etc and he's sound as anything - it's just slightly filled.
