This morning our shire x was very slightly lame when walking across his field. We've had alot of wet weather so the field is quite poached now and then the last two days we've had morning temps of minus four so the ground is solid now.

I'm 99% sure it's just the ground, I've checked his feet and digital pulses and all fine. He's got no shoes on and is a sensitive boy anyway so can be footy occasionally. Don't really know why I'm posting this but you do worry don't you!

Are you sure you are making enough distinction between "sore" and "it's incredibly difficult to walk on points of frozen mud"? My boys picked their way out carefully this morning, but all are barefoot rock-crunchers on rubble paths. They are just being sensible and avoiding putting all their weight too heavily onto a foot with a spike of frozen mud underneath it. I hope that's all it is with yours.
