i've been walking my horse for 10 minutes every day on the advice of my vet to try to bring down the swelling in my horse's left knee and right fetlock but his knee is still really puffy and warm.

he's on bute and antibiotics so im slightly worried by the heat in it but he seems to be walking perfectly fine on it and he's perfectly content, although a little bored from not being able to go out.

wondering if i should maybe phone the vet tomorrow morning or leave it until monday, when someone will be up to change his dressing and check the wound.

I thought the bute would have taken the swelling down

Swelling won't reduce whilst he's stood in. I would phone your vet to doscuss alternative management and to discuss turnout.

Ditto the advice on turnout. If the vet is advising exercise then I cannot think that restricted turnout (small field on his own) would be of any harm and will certainly help with fluid reduction.

What did the vet say was wong?

the big fud decided to impale himself on a wire fence on Tuesday so he has six staples in his left leg. vet was up on Thursday to change the dressing and she thought it looked slightly infected :(
turnout has been limited as there's a big show on thus weekend and the weathers been absolutely miserable (snow and heavy rain).

she also said to limit exercise to ten minutes so he didn't pull out his staples. I've been doing 10 mins in the morning and 10 mins at night so he's getting out of his box.

think I'll give the emergency mobile a phone if it's still really warm - I can't even cold hose it because he's bandaged from his knee to his coronet band.
