Hi, does anyone know whether you open and close slip rails mounted or do you dismount in a hunter trial. I have one in mine tomorrow and have never done one before and no-one seemed to know how to tackle it. I'm not sure i will be able to get back on if i dismount!

also whats the process - do you drop the rial on the ground or can you just slide it across and go through the gap?

thanks

ok cool - the majority of people have said to do them dismounted.

its quite a challenging course - we will prob be eliminated but i dont care - only going for a bit of fun and to get treacle out to a party! Just want to make it round without napping or falling off!

Usually get them in Tetrathlon. Dismount, open top rail wide enough for horse, leave bottom rail as long as it's low enough for horse to pop over in hand. Lead horse over. Shut top rail, remount and carry on.

Do you have a gate to open too? If so approach it from the side so horse knows it's not a jump.
