well i have a friesian mare who is clumsy at times.
we went on a riding holiday and she slipped on the road and we both fell over and she has really don somedamage to herself back wise! i have noticed that she slips sometime on certain concrete that my other horse walks on fine but her back legs slip under her a bit more so maybe the way she is built cause's her to do this!

we are moving to a new yard and concrete surrounding yard is nice and rough so hopefully not a lot of slipping but we can go hacking in a big forest down the road but obviosly have to go on road to get to it and the road we would use is just like the one she slipt and fell on when we was away an old lane that hasnt been resuraced for sometime.

any suggestions to what i could do am going to ask my farrier when he comes next but just woundering if anyone else has had a simular prob and what helped them?

was thinking about the boa boots when going on dodgy terrain but she has shoes on so that wouldnt work maybe studs but dont really no how to use them or road nails any thing

Ask your farrier for road nails...you dont have to use them, they are just there. See how you go with that and if it does not work ask for stud holes and then put in the small road studs.

I would look into the reason as to why she is slipping too? Maybe there is an underlying problem, or she needs to be shot more often, or her walk is slow and clumsy and she is not picking her feet up - perhaps it needs to be more active and alert?

My boy slips a lot, I tried road nails for quite a while but they didn't stop it then the farrier made a small hole in the heels of both front shoes and welded a road nail in - result! He hasn't slipped for ages
