Slippery Saddle?

I bought a lovely 2nd hand (although looks fairly new) leather saddle for my new horse, but I think it was polished well to sell it and as a result it is really slippery. The saddle is comfortable but I feel quite insecure as I keep slipping and sliding which isn't good news with a new horse! Any ideas of what I could do to make it less slippy?

All I can think of is using a seat saver and this will make the saddle even more comfy - I couldn't be without mine.

Now there is an idea, especially as I've gone from riding once or twice a week to 5 times!!

you can get some stuff that you spray onto the saddle and its suppossed to help you stick can't remember what its called maybe try google, or buy yourself some suede breeches or even put a bit of saddle soap on and don't take it off!

Echo using some glycerine saddle soap! Also depends if you are wearing smooth nylon jods/breeches or cotton ones. I feel like a stunt act if Ive just cleaned my saddle and am in certain jods!

Apart from the seat saver idea, you could try cleaning off the excess shininess & starting again or get yourself some 'sticky botty' jods & wait for the excess shininess to wear off, it'll go eventually!

We clean all our stuff with water, then Stubben cream & have never had a problem, though my daughter did complain about BB's saddle being a bit slippery! The leather is quite hard on her saddle & these are always the worst culprits for being slippery!

Like Zizz says - there is some special spray which is meant for exactly this. Cannot remember what its called either though!

with my XC saddle, I always use my 'sticky' jods!
they're especially help you with particularly 'hairy' moments whether it is in XC, or just when your horse spooks!
they are from equetech & i have fallen in love with them - they have a reinforced seat - not sure what it's made from, but they are well worht the money! (about £40 i think)
