Our mare slips like mad on the road and got injured last week. She was scanned today and her leg is fine but need to stop the slipping. Had road studs last time but she still slipped. Can you get boots that velcro on. We have one that I use for poulticing that has wires and a clip. She has to be shod as needs support of heel. Thank you

Its a difficult one! My horse is a slip-per also! Iv tried no shoes on hinds & full set with nails but nothing really seems to stop it. I really just avoid slippery tarmac where possible or plan my hacks so I'm going uphill on slippier surfaces. Good luck, il be watching this thread with interest :)

Are they fixed studs or ones you screw in? I have road/hunt studs in my horse's back shoes and have also had raod nails in his fronts. He once lost one hind stud and the result was him slipping sideways slap down on the road and me sustaining a broken collarbone :(

Oh dear that sounds awful :( They were nails put in by the farrier. Think I had 2 in each hoof (which put my price of a trim and full set up to £81 :() I didnt find them that great but its always worth a try

Oh dear. I also have this prob so will also be watching.. Why do some horses slip more than others? My horse has front shoes with road nails and slips a lot no matter how careful she is. My Friends horse has exactly the sane by the same farrier yet her horse never slips.
