Ok so i have a lovely custom made saddle.... last couple of months it's started slipping to the right when i ride.. i am right heavy in terms of which arm i use more and weight in stirrup etc (bad posture and a throw back to a broken left arm)... but is part of the problem a girth issue... in need of a check... what do you think??

Taffyhorse has this problem, I don't think she's on line at the moment unfortunately but she had the saddler out last week and the problem was solved by girthing up on one side on the first and second holes, and on the other side on the first and third, with the back strap done up a hole tighter. This provided more stability and stopped the saddle slipping so far right.

The trouble is I can't remember which side is which! I 'think' it was on the left side that the first and third straps were used, but you might have to try trial and error...

thanks - do you mean when you say 1st and third... the 1st strap under the flaps and the third... or the 1st and 3rd holes on the 1st strap and the third

This happens on my mare - its partly me and partly because her offside shoulder is less muscled due to an old injury (we are working on building it back up), so saddle slips to the right.
I find to help i look round over outside shoulder to her tail on circles to help straighten myself and work without stirrups.
I wouldnt try overgirthing to compensate.

This has recently been happening to me too, a friend said to me after much whinging that perhaps my girth was too long as it was near the top on both sides. So, I bought a shorter girth and the saddle no longer slips, my stirrups were also odd which I later realised and my saddle is perfect now

Hope this helps
