hi all :)
a friend of mines saddle seems to slip forward when she canters-would this suggest the saddle no longer fits?
p.s hope everyones had a good day

Yes, it can be an indication the saddle doesn't fit.

They often slide forwards if they are too narrow as the horse gets narrower towards the shoulders.

However it can also be the horses conformations fault. Big belly (often fat ;)), forwards girth groove, downhills/on the forehand and powerful loins will all push/drag the saddle forwards.

Just tighening the girth more won't help at all - it won't stop the saddle sliding forwards and just stops it sliding back into the right place afterwards.

Get a GOOD saddler (they are hard to find but do exist) out to check.
