Help needed! Whenever I ride my horse, after 15mins of work, his saddlecloth slips ride under the saddle. Any recommendations on what I can do to fix this problem? Would a gel pad between the saddlecloth & saddle help?

It has velcro to go around the girth straps (near d ring) and it has a loop that you can put the girth through. Even though I always do these up, the saddlecloth always disappears after riding under the saddle!

This was happening to me as horse has filled out, and his saddle was not fitting as well causing his saddlecloths to work backwards, so are now finding a new saddle!:)

Flintmeg, the saddle was checked last week by a Master Saddler and fits a treat! Good luck with finding a new saddle though :)

this happens on my horse who has a huge and very active shoulder! My mum very kindly brought me a barnsby grip pad, due to some very good reviews on here, and at vast expense, but it is the worst of the lot :( it doesn't have the velcro round the girth straps so has nothing to save it!
The best thing that has worked so far is a stephens gel eze pad between numnah and saddle.

That's what I was thinking Mil1212, plus I dont like the colours/patterns of a lot of the anti-slip saddleblankets!

I have slippage probs too! Def recommend the nu-med, I have a black one sticky both sides it was about £65 but I had tried a few before finding this one. Also have a Barnsby pad, also non slip both sides. I tried a thorowgood one but it was too straight in the flap and after a wash too short in the back and ended up rubbing on the seam.

I'm surprised that the Barnsby grip pad moves, mine have never budged. Well I suppose that it goes to show that what works for one horse, doesn't always work for another.

Prolite non-slip pad, economical and very effective that I use it on everything regardless of what they are doing. Put it between the numnah and the saddle or his back and the numnah. Problem solved!!

I have the same problem with mine, the saddle literally eats my numnah, I sorted it out by going to Halfords and getting a large piece of grey rubber mesh and cut the shape of the saddle, bingo problem solved at a fraction of the price you buy a ready made pod plus there is loads left over.:D

i had the same problem - saddle fitted perfectly saddler said best to ride without a pad if i could bear the cleaning - i couldn't- so got a new equine non slip net it worked brilliantly and very cheap washes in the machine i've had mine for 3 years
