Axey is only shod in front, as he as very good feet and doesn't need shoes on the back.
Yesterday we went out for a hack and as it was muddy he was slipping about everywhere, especially behind.
Sooooo, would having back shoes on stop him from slipping?

Great, I'll get him shod behind now then. It was such a horrible feeling yesterday, I thought he was going to fall over

It's awful isn't it? We have a few very slippery roads round by me, and to feel the horses slipping on them is just horrid. We wear massive road studs - which help to a degree.

We were in the woods and as its clay it was really muddy and slippery, we cantered along this track and I had to pull up as Axey felt like he was on an ice rink, not a nice feeling at all. I was terrified he was going to slip over

If I wanted to go hunting for example it would be no good at all. Hopefully then some back shoes might solve the problem.

Fleur was only shod in front but we had the back done at the weekend - she feels a lot more sure footed now.

I agree about the slipping as well because it puts the shits up me too. No matter where they slip be it road or track it's still not a nice feeling

My 26 yr old slipped on the road a few weeks ago. Very very scary, I had to get off so she could get up. She was sore so I jsut walked her home, gave her a bit of extra bute and a few days off. Not nice.
